Imagine a creative force fueled by the pulse of music, the vision of art, the power of collaboration, and the business acumen of a C-Suite exec. That's Brandon T. Downer, co-founder of Arttavo.
Brandon is not only a seasoned technical program manager with years of executive experience in the execution of complex projects and transactions in the United States, Japan and Southeast Asia, he’s also the brand co-creator (with his wife and partner of 17 years) of chief&mischief, a sustainable clothing and accessories brand with roots in a multi-year residency in a Tokyo silkscreen studio, and a present which has added experimentation with indigo and other natural pigment dyes inspiring the shinrinyoku (a forest bath) collection.
As part of an extended work assignment, Brandon lived in Tokyo for seven years. Brandon seized the unique opportunity, and invited NYC friends and dance music pioneers as invited performers at chief&mischief events which thrummed with the beats of Larry Tee (electroclash) , Roxy Cottontail (hollertronix), and Alex English (GBH). He honed his taste in Tokyo, curating experiences that blended the lines between music and art— even featuring the then burgeoning artist, Shantell Martin, during her time in the city. These weren't just parties; they were cultural collisions, testaments to a belief in the societal importance of sharing the creative expression of established and emerging artists.
Brandon is a natural collaborator and builder. From his Dotcom-era role as the founding e-commerce director of Hookt.com, to managing bands and programming a series of new music showcases at NYC’s East Village venue, Joe’s Pub, where he was mentored by venerable PR and Indie music legend, Fiona Bloom (The Bloom Effect), he’s seen the creative and digital landscape evolve firsthand. He knows the challenges artists face, and the shortfalls of the platforms that claim to empower them.
In addition to a functional fluency in Japanese, Brandon speaks the language of process, efficiency, and value creation (holds an MBA from Philadelphia’s Temple University), but he never loses sight of the critical importance of building strong relationships based on shared principles and objectives.
Brandon lives with his beautiful family in Northern Hudson County, NJ and is a passionate basketball dad.
So, what makes Brandon a suitable steward for a platform like Arttavo?
This isn't just a bio it's a blueprint for a platform that doesn't just showcase creativity, but amplifies it. He's not just building a marketplace; he's building a community and a launchpad for creatives.
